Re: Rest of the season?
I see there is a petition to get the govt to change its mind about funding being given in loans and not grants. Don't think there's much chance but it's worth a try. A far better bet would be to get Nicola Sturgeon to announce it in Scotland...our government usually follow suit about a week later!

Re: Rest of the season?
A bit more information. It seems that even if clubs take a loan, one the conditions is that wages are capped at a level below current furlough levels. This could cause some difficulty for many clubs. So that must mean that if you have a lot of players on contract, where the amount of pay is clearly...

Re: Rest of the season?
Looking at social media stuff today, there seem to be a few clubs wanting to play on and finish the season come what may. I can only conclude they have very deep pockets indeed.

And then getting more government money for playing part time Football disgusting. With over 100,000 dead and 40,000 in hospital the season has to end.

Re: Rest of the season?
Confirmed in parliament as loans for the rest of the season, with grants available for clubs "if their immediate future is at risk."
I guess that's that then...
Let's hope for PPG.

Re: Rest of the season?
So basically someone isn't telling the truth and is now backtracking then? Was it grants originally, was it loans originally, or have the league just consistently got it wrong and given the clubs misinterpreted information? No-one comes out of this well do they? With a government who consistently u-...

Re: Centenary celebrations.
Yes I agree with everything said the club should go back to being called Hampton FC.I always thought it was the council that insisted the club included its name in the club name? To put it briefly, the board at the time wanted to try to attract more support and investment from the wider local area ...

Re: Centenary celebrations.
Apologies in advance to Shepperton Supporter for turning his thread into a debate on the club name, but its a subject I'm passionate about and feel deserves a discussion in this our centenary year. I'm with Lord Elpus on this one. The name is an absolute disaster. Even the club itself often (embarr...

Re: Centenary celebrations.
I'd love to see the club take the opportunity to change the name back to the plain old Hampton FC. Never liked the clumsy "and Richmond Borough" suffix. Personally, I think it would be a retrograde step to revert back to Hampton FC. Apart from some Spartan League wins in the 60s, nearly a...

Good point Shep. I'd love to see the club take the opportunity to change the name back to the plain old Hampton FC. Never liked the clumsy "and Richmond Borough" suffix. It would bring us back to our roots and disassociate us from the much more toff/rugby element. As for teams from each de...

Podcast
If anyone's listened to the podcast with Gary, Jacques and Phil Weller, which was hosted by Seb White this morning and put up this afternoon, it was a very professionally done and informative listen. Good to see the club is taking a pragmatic and realistic approach.
