Re: Those Were The Days; 5th April 1999
What about Raphael Nade? Although pretty useless for us he did go on to play at a higher level including Carlisle Utd and Woking. He was a moody piece of work. I recall he had been subbed off in a game, went and sat by himself along the touchline having a strop instead of with his team mates. 11 ye...

Re: Those Were The Days; 5th April 1999
This is so weird, but I think I ended up managing Jamie McWilliams towards the end of his career when I was the Bromsgrove Sporting Reserve team manager (the club formed after Bromsgrove Rovers ceased). Will have to look into this more and see if I can catch up with him, and see if can get a story a...

Re: Welling away
I believe he has had offers already from a number of clubs higher up including us but has turned them down. Whether that will change come the close season remains to be seen. He is clearly not playing for money given what I was told on Saturday. His job may make it difficult to play in a full time ...

Re: Taunton at home
New floodlights, makes absolute sense. Can understand keeping them in the same positions for ease. Although do think it could restrict further development later, as they restrict lots of the view when watching down the sides. The old pylons are iconic, I have the scrap man isn't just getting them to...

Re: Welling away
Walton & Hersham v Basingstoke, top of the table clash it is then. Goal machine Eddie Simon going for his fifth hat trick in a row plus a few former Beavers on show. Eddie Simon obviously getting a lot of publicity for the scoring streak, and will have a lot of eyes on him. Hopefully Hampton al...

Re: Welling away
A fair few and I guess a lot of neutrals. Far too few stewards for the size of crowd and no tannoy. Safety announcements by Twitter! Surely it's a league requirement to have a working tannoy system, and the game should not be able to go ahead without one. Pretty sure it's part of the safety require...

Re: Farnborough here on Saturday.
If Barzey and Comley are also on international duty then we will have lost four players from the squad since last week. Doesn’t leave much cover if we pick up injuries or suspensions. Think that’s what most minds think. if Fisher was recalled on deadline day without notice then our survival has bee...

Re: News of former players
Following the sacking of Patrick Viera, as Crystal Palace Manager, their U21 Boss Paddy McCarthy will take charge against Arsenal tomorrow, with Former Hampton defender/ Joint Manager, Darren Powell as his assistant. Good luck Darren . What a player Darren was. It would be good to keep in touch wit...

Re: Dover away on Saturday.
Regarding Mel, I thought he was appointed in a role above the manager to oversee the wider aspects of the club. Therefore with the intention of bringing in a 1st team manager (or rather "Head Coach") to run the 1st team. As he is doing well having stepped in to cover the role after Gary Mc...

Re: First Team Analyst
Agree about Brentford who have done this coupled with other innovative schemes. It will be interesting to see how we employ this resource. Every club uses player analysis. It isn't merely about signing players based on stats. Also stats are pointless unless used for a reason, just like people who f...

Re: First Team Analyst
This role is becoming more popular and professional especially further up the football pyramid, so not surprised. To me it sums up the way the club is now heading and Mel wants to instil this throughout the club. Mel through his contacts, might have someone in mind. We supporters may have to accept...
