Concord Chairman steps down

Ant Smith, the Concord Rangers chairman, has stepped down. Whilst he says he will continue to support the club financially you have to wonder if this is the start of the slide back down the leagues for Concord. They are far from a well supported side and I guess their current position is largely down to him.

Think we will have to wait and see what happens there. Like so many clubs at this level, one person puts in a lot of cash, then finds they cannot continue as costs rise as the club rises up the football pyramid. We have seen it at Billericay and wonder if we will be saying the same of Dorking in future?
Mentioning Dorking, they are announcing four new signings this week , so the spending continues!

Looks to be rumoured that Jack Turner, goalkeeper, from Slough is going there. Not sure if that means Sam Howes has left.

Sam Howes was on the Dorking released list a few weeks ago. Along with (I think) Lewis Taylor, Jake Gallagher and Sam Beard.

Jack Turner was announced as leaving Slough last week, apparently he moved down towards Portsmouth at the beginning of the season and the travelling wasn't working.

Another keeper linked with Dorking is Lee Wigan who has left Chelmsford. We will know shortly.

No doubt Dorking will be recruiting with a promotion push in mind.

Was slightly surprised about Jake Gallagher, he was a regular at Aldershot for four seasons and is a tall ball winner midfield player.

Lee Worgan Shep. Highly rated at Chelmsford.

That looks ominous for Concord. No manager or chairman. Bet the players are on the phone looking for a new club. Anyone decent there we might be interested in?

There are a couple of midfielders there plus in Alex Wall a proven striker at our level. It is very much Gary’s call they need to fit into a happy and harmonious dressing room.
Gary has a couple of deals in the pipeline so we should await news.

Alex Wall has signed for Havant from Concord, so that’s a second striker they have signed this close season following James Roberts from Oxford City. Havant have also signed central defender Joe Oastler from Oxford City. Looks like Havant and a Dorking are going for it next season.
