As the article says this does strengthen the club’s balance sheet. Now let’s see how the money is spent.

What is the relationship with the club and the trust?
Where has the Trust shed gone by the turnstiles? and why doesn't the club promote the Trust's work around away travel.

What's happened to the food bank. Don't the owners care about those less fortunate than themselves?

I'd guess that a fair bit of the money has already been spent. It's not clear when that loan first went in but it's just converting that from borrowings into equity - which is positive as the club can't then be made insolvent when repayment of the loan is demanded. It can of course still go insolvent if losses were to rack up in the future.

An interesting article? Some of which we might have read before.

Interesting although not too much new in there. Will generate a bit more interest in the club which isn't a bad thing.

Two extracts from the article:
  • "They share a locale with the fictional AFC Richmond from hit TV series Ted Lasso, but the most interesting thing about Hampton and Richmond Borough FC is their heavyweight backing"
  • [Rafa says] “We will never change the name of the club..."
So that is resolved...

[Rafa says] “We will never change the name of the club..."

Well dropped the name Borough, albeit not officially with the FA, yet?

Like to drop in about Wrexham. The thing about Wrexham is their celebrity owners massively engage with the fan base, supporters groups, and local long standing sponsors even if small local companies.
Yet #HamRich seem to not want to work with the Supporters Trust, won't even allow a stand on match days (see recent email from supporters trust), and all sponsors around ground etc from local firms have all been removed.
As for the ongoing boring and embarrassing references to Ted Lasso, it's bizarre this could be seen as a positive.

Just on the last bit, I thought it was clear from the article that the Ted Lasso angle has been crucial in opening doors with investors, which is what it was referring to?

Are crowds still up by 80% ? Certainly they have been up (and seemingly inflated at one point) but not so much recently.

Interesting that the article confirm Rafa and Stefano don't have any money themselves but are 'very good at building a story that makes sense for people to bring capital into'.

That's just spin though isn't it, sales pitch?
AFC Richmond and Ted Lasso is fictional.
the new American owners at Birmingham City haven't invested because of the Peaky Blinders and looked to changed the name to Birmingham Blinders.

The mention of Wrexham, the owners of Wrexham respect the history of the club, they aren't changing the name, colours etc.

I'm all for fresh ideas, running more professionally, and I think it many ways the new regime are improving a lot of things. But at a cost of changing names and linking to a TV programme that actually has more than coincidental references to Hampton is a mistake.

Seems it is all part of a narrative that enables the brothers to attract investment from Americans who love the programme.
