THOSE WERE THE DAYS
27th April 1999
Middlesex Charity Cup; Semi-Final
Hampton 2 (Savage, Wood) Brook House 2 Att; 89
aet Hampton won 3-0 on penalties

Gary Robinson; Nick Burton, Peter Wood, John Dixon, Steve Cheshire, Erwin Asselman Matt Dennis, 64), Craig Reilly, Martin Buglione, Richard Vercesi (Tony Mesourouni, 90’), Simon Huckle Dudley Gardner, 64’), Ian Savage.

Hampton won their way through to another Middlesex Charity Cup Final after a struggle against difficult opponents, Brook House, who refused to lay down. Hampton had four Youth Team Players in the squad to fill gaps relating to injured/rested players. One of them, keeper Robinson would play a very important role later in the contest. All seemed going to plan when Savage gave Hampton the lead in the 39th minute, however the visitors equalised to take the game into extra time. Hampton were then shocked when Brook House took the lead and seemed to have knocked out the more senior club. It took a 118th equaliser from Wood to take the game into a penalty shoot-out – his only goal of the season! Savage scored Hampton’s first; Brook House missed with their first effort; Gardner struck home the second before the visitors missed with their second; Reilly struck for a 3-0 lead and then young Robinson pulled off a save to send Hampton into a final against Southall & Borough (which Hampton comfortably won 3-0).

Absolutely not....47 turned up for a Middx Senior QF match against Broadfields on 14th January 2020, We always reckoned that if we scraped a 3 figure attendance for a County Cup or League Cup game - it was a good night. Away gates were not great either, for these type of games.
