Thought this deserved a thread of its own...for those who haven't seen yet, it's Alan Julian. Pleased with that. A good guy, local, knows the club, highly experienced, must have a lot of contacts and can bring some stability. Although he's clearly changed his mind from a video clip earlier this year when he didn't seem keen to go into management.
Good luck Jules.

Yes congratulations to Alan. Think the club went for stability, hope he can get more players to remain. Might depend on his coaching team, one experienced man with contacts might be helpful?

Lack of experience, previously stated he did not want to get into management, suggests budget has been slashed, no suggestion he will play an attractive brand of football and will probably be out of his depth. However saying all that I do think he will have a very good contact list let’s just hope he will be able to use it

Doubt if we will ever know the other candidates but they had “a wealth of experience “.
At least he is local and knows the players and the club.

It is worth remembering that Mel had never been a manager before and all his experience was at a higher level.
who else was on the short list?Les1949 wrote: Mon May 13, 2024 11:34 am I was aware that Jools was on the short list. Julian is a really good blole and will be great for the club and supporters. I just hope that he is given the budget and hasn't been handed a poisoned chalice.

Obviously there are positive aspects of this appointment but his capabilities as a manager are clearly untested and it will be interesting to see who is brought in to assist.

If I am not mistaken Mel had a wide variety of first team coaching experience in the football league and National League whereas Jules has helped here and there with our GK’s and also coaches young children for a coaching company called PDA, yes they both never had managerial experience but there is still a massive difference between the twoShepperton Supporter wrote: Mon May 13, 2024 11:44 am It is worth remembering that Mel had never been a manager before and all his experience was at a higher level.

I wonder whether Alan will retain the current training regime or fully switch to full time?
