The one thing about Spencer Day is that he does tend to be very outspoken in his comments after games. I would be surprised is he does not get further sanctions over his remarks.
As for us, true we rode our luck, but then there have been other games where we have felt unlucky to have either lost or dropped points. Generally over a season these things balance out.
Dorking will be a much harder games . I have not heard if Taylor’s loan from Sutton has been extended, he has been an excellent and would be difficult to replace.

I agree with Spencer Day on the refereeing point (not about the decisions in the match necessarily, but the wider point about this strange appointment) and I would raise a slightly different point too. I notice the original referee penciled in for this fixture (as named in the programme) was Emily Heaslip, she had to be replaced for whatever reason... is it just a coincidence that she gets replaced with another female, or is there some ridiculous imposed weekly quota which meant this fixture was earmarked to have a female referee and it couldn't be changed to a male? Is that why Farnborough are being asked to pay for a rookie to travel down from Sheffield? My suspicious mind thinks so. It seems inconceivable that there wasn't a qualified male referee available from anywhere between Farnborough and Sheffield. We live in a clown world.

Also, didn't the National League have a fourth official present? Could they not go for one match without a fourth official and just let them referee the game... we never required fourth officials before about 2023. it seems the more officials there are, the more rules they follow and the more money gets spent on training them, the worse refereeing gets.

So from now on the National League South mustn't use women referees from Sheffield who ask for expenses and disallow last minute goals that have annoyed the manager. Football is a simple games that even women can understand!

Having seen the highlights, it still looks to me that the Farnborough player was offside, just, when he deflected the ball into the net and I can see why the freekick was given on the second incident. In the context of the whole referring performance I don’t share Day’s views about the ref’s competence. As to why she was appointed that has nothing to do with the decisions on the pitch. The first was down to the linesman in any case. Day taking out his frustration on the officials I’m afraid. And quite a few Farnborough fans saying pretty much the same thing - ref was no worse than usual standard for this level.

I have no issue with female referees or even people from Sheffield! I am just pointing out the ridiculousness of the situation if, as I suspect, there were male referees who could have taken the game on but somebody from much further afield was chosen specifically because they are female, which certainly appears to be the case here.

Agree with all above comments and video confirms goalbound shot clipped Farnborough no 8 who was in an offside position. Interesting to contrast their many revenue generating advertising hoardings around the ground with the bare spaces at the Bev and their website’s list of local and national supporting organisations.

Farnborough, where clever in their setup and gambled on going tight on Keeya and Hunt whenever the ball could or was played to them (down to watching match highlights and doing their homework well), with Kuhl and Pendlebury locking on to both, along with this the nearest front man to Atkinson also locked on hence a few mis haps around our box. Its a good lesson as if teams are going to press or lock on like Farnborough you have to have a more polished pattern or a plan B and C. Not every game will be polished Jules ball, but shows the team togetherness when the going gets tough. Great result in a game Farnborough clearly had been revved up for.

Every team knows that we like to play out from the back so no surprise that they employ a high press in the first 15-20 minutes. It usually takes us a while to settle into our pattern, but against farnborough we struggled all game to play through the press, partly down to Farnborough going their job well and partly down to poor passing and taking unnecessary risks in possession. Sometimes I feel we need to mix things up a bit and go longer if only to get ourselves up the pitch where we can then press the opposition in their last third.
