Ted Curd recalled by Chelsea

What a pity.

I guess Luka Ziger will be stepping up.

I don't suppose Adam Desbois is nearly fit to play again yet - wonder if he might be an option in the coming months?

Can't recall if Adam Desbois needed surgery. Can't see any news on him.

He tweeted in September about his ACL surgery https://x.com/ADZINHO_/status/1836812005325341059
No relevant tweets since.
It seems to generally be suggested it's a minimum of 6 months and up to 12 months to return to sport.

It’s unlikely, but there’s a chance we could get him back. I noticed that Hendon’s goalkeeper, who is also on loan from Chelsea, has been recalled, so they might be bringing all the players back to reassess and then re-loan them out.

If Ted has been enjoying his football, there’s no reason he wouldn’t come back.

Also, Covolan left Braintree on January 4th. He has experience in the football league and could be a solid option to see out the season. Plus, he scored in the playoff finals at Wembley for Torquay. Last time we signed a goalkeeper who could score, it turned out quite well with Seny Dieng.

A shame he has been recalled. Be interesting to see if Alan goes for another loan signing or a permanent one.

This is always the problem with loan players. From a personal preference standpoint I would go for another loan , obviously a permanent keeper of the right standard would be the best choice! Ziger is backup keeper but not sure of his experience.

With Julian’s Brentford contacts, they have several keepers who might be available?

With so many keepers I wonder why they need to recall unless they want to place Curd at another club for more experience. But doubt he would play higher than NLS at this stage in his career. There will be other loan options of course.

Double whammy losing Taylor and Curd within a couple of weeks when we thought we had them for the season. Both were quite key to our style of play, comfortable on the ball and mature for their years. We more than got our money’s worth which has not always been the case with loanees. Kyle sounds like a good replacement and I suspect we will be looking to add a keeper quite quickly. Hopefully this doesn’t disrupt our momentum too much.

He doesn't appear to have played any senior level football.

I noticed that , would be a massive risk, unless Julian has seen something that suggests he is up for the standard. Last time Curd was on international duly we did not play Davies but got in another loan from Chelsea.
Might do the same with another loan?
