What Tony said is true, it is the referee that decides if the pitch is playable.
Over the years there has been instances where clubs both the home and away teams have through various tactics have tried to influence these decisions!

This is very true, but getting a referee to view the pitch at 10am, with no more rain forecast, isn't really making much of an effort to give the game a chance. Particularly given how good the drainage is at Clarence Park. There were no other postponements in the division that I could see.Tony wrote: Sat Feb 01, 2025 3:24 pm Games are called off by the officials not by the clubs. Remember our home game v Dorking. Not much you can do if the ref decides the pitch is unplayable even if everyone else thinks it's fine.
I'm sure if the referee thought the situation would improve he would have ordered a later inspection. Seeking to blame the home club for the postponement is bang out of order in my opinion.GRTourist wrote: Mon Feb 03, 2025 1:38 pmThis is very true, but getting a referee to view the pitch at 10am, with no more rain forecast, isn't really making much of an effort to give the game a chance.
