I think the club should be on every social media platform, including Bluesky, and post consistently across them all. I agree with MK it would be a good step to provide captions for those hard of hearing.RogerSW wrote: Thu Apr 24, 2025 3:16 pm If not already on Youtube, good to be there for automatic captions.
Many of us are avoiding Twitter/X since we don't want to encourage alleged psychopath fascist Musk, good to get onto BlueSky.
I think many left activists hugely miscalculate the impact of their boycotts on Twitter/X - traffic to the website has nearly quadroupled over the last year and it isn't going anywhere.

I don't think we "left activists" are that bothered about any impact of a so called boycott...it's more a matter of just not wanting to be part of an idiot madman's plaything.TW2-Beaver wrote: Fri Apr 25, 2025 6:47 amI think the club should be on every social media platform, including Bluesky, and post consistently across them all. I don't think that cutting yourself off from almost 14,000 followers is a sound marketing idea, whatever the owner of that platform's current insanity levels.
It's by far the largest social media following the club has with Instagram on 8000 and Facebook on 1700.
It also gets the most interactions when compared to other platforms.

Agree with the above, as much as I dislike Musk, not using Twitter/X isn’t the way forwards. Despite the issues it faces I still use it as my main method of finding news out about the club. However, it would be a very good idea to be consistently active on all social media platforms as mentioned above.
Do you seriously believe because someone has a little common decency they are a left activist?TW2-Beaver wrote: Fri Apr 25, 2025 6:47 amI think the club should be on every social media platform, including Bluesky, and post consistently across them all. Bit dramatic. I wasn't trying to trigger anyone, it's just a statement of fact that some leftist activists boycott Twitter/X and encourage others to and I was just pointing out that the platform is doing quite well, contrary to some assumptions, and I think the club should remain on it (and join all other platforms too).JimS wrote: Fri Apr 25, 2025 12:33 pm Do you seriously believe because someone has a little common decency they are a left activist?
Personally I am not a big fan of Musk and if I were an American I would be uncomfortable with his influence on federal government as an unelected person with a seemingly huge conflict of interest, but, as has been mentioned before, if he gets humans to Mars history will remember him for that and not whether Guardian readers liked him or not. Many people who drive genuine human progress are weirdos and outcasts with high IQs who can't relate to average people and are fairly unpopular yet exceptional in particular fields. All a bit besides the point though.
I think it was you who was being a bit dramatic. Perhaps if you actually said the above in your original post it wouldn't have come across that way?TW2-Beaver wrote: Fri Apr 25, 2025 5:55 pmBit dramatic.
