Egham Town;-

Joe Andrews; Alan Earl, Brian Smith, Don Aldridge, Graham Belcher, Ken Merry, Syd Carter, Mickey Garman, Peter Allen, Dave Timberlake, Arthur Rowlands.
Hampton retained the Spartan League Cup with a 2-1 win over Egham Town, the final played at Staines Town’s Wheatsheaf Lane ground. Hampton had now won the League Cup, four years in a row. Hampton never looked at their peak, with both defences in charge of the contest. Hampton looked to be in trouble in the first half but bounced back in the second. Fifteen minutes went by, before Egham opened the scoring. Styles beat Smith in the air, the ball ran to Edginton who breasted the ball past Andrews and scored from a narrow angle. Minutes later Smith almost scored an own goal, the ball crashing against the cross bar. In the 32nd minute Timberlake split the Egham defence with a through ball to Rowlands, who taking on two defenders, drew Shrimpton and scored the equaliser. Hampton controlled the second half but it took until the 83rd minute before Hampton secured the cup. Carter rose high above White to head home the winner from a cross by Timberlake.

Despite my having the correct line-up on my records, I still managed to transpose the wrong player. Good job that I have someone checking my work!!TW2-Beaver wrote: Thu May 15, 2025 7:05 am Hi,
Query on the Hampton line-up - I have Garman starting, instead of McLintock - report below is Middlesex Chronicle, 24th May 1968, p30.
This seems to tally with Shepperton Supporter's spreadsheet from the time (column #69)
