Unused subs; Conner French, Michael Barima.
** and yes, there was a Josh Webb and a Joshua Webb – unrelated, in case you thought that their parents couldn’t come up with another first name.

Seb Brown; Michael Kamara, Tom Jelly, Kierna Murphy (Joe Hicks, 12’), Moussa Diarra, Ryan Newman (Jerome Federico, 68’), Eddie Hutchinson, Dean Sinclair, Nicke Kabamba, Charlie Moone (Richard Pacquette, 75’), Josh Casey.
Unused subs; Matte Pierson (Gk), Jake Rose.

By choice, the first game of the season is not the one that you would choose to have to re-organise your team after just 10 minutes. Players are just getting used to each other and their style of play. Unfortunately, Murphy suffered an injury and was replaced by Hicks. Fortunately, it didn’t seem to put Hampton off their stroke because in the 18th minute Casey cut the ball into the box where Moone was waiting to side foot the ball past Ben Goode. Undaunted, Harrow Borough dragged themselves into the game when Marc Charles-Smith sent an unstoppable header past Brown. The second half continued to be played at a frantic pace. Charles-Smith was denied, Hicks had a header cleared off the line, then both teams had goals disallowed. Diarra, offside and Harrow for a foul in the box. Kabamba almost won it at the death, but his first time shot cleared the bar.
