In their sixth league game of the season, Hampton finally won their first three points of the season at the home of their traditional rivals, Staines Town. A midweek win at Harefield United in a league cup fixture may have boosted the team’s confidence. It took just thirteen minutes for Hampton to take the lead. Shafique sent over a corner from the right and Wigmore headed the ball over the line, despite the best efforts of Peter Lara, the Staines keeper. Staines might have equalised in the 28th minute when a thunderous 35-yard drive hit the crossbar with Orkney beaten. Hampton went straight up the pitch, Lara brilliantly pushing Rice’s header round the post. The second half was a quiet affair, Hampton remained in control, keeping Staines’ new signing Richard Parkin quiet. Staines operated an efficient off-side trap which kept the Hampton forwards out of the game, but for their part were unable to make any inroads into Hampton’s single-goal lead.

Again, another Hampton side containing some excellent players who collectively should (arguably) have achieved a bit more than they did. Dicko, Wigmore, Hollands and Walkes should all be considered club greats and some of the others were decent players too, including Sean (Declan's Dad) Rice.
Who would the manager have been around this time? Charland? Rogers?

Was he the one who had a fearsome shot, especially from free kicks?
