Hoping for a win. Expecting a loss. Very tough side with a good home record.

Surprisingly flat atmosphere at York Rd today, considering they are trying to make the playoffs.
FT: 2-1. Very poor second half considering we had a man advantage. Their two goals were terrible ones to give away, the first a silly penalty, the second a mistake from Longe-King which was easily pounced upon. Safety not mathematically secured yet, but avoid defeat next week and we’ll be there.
Felt like too many first choice, in-form players rested/absent today - Fernandez and Atkinson in particular. Maybe Dowse felt there was low liklihood of getting points today but after a strong start and their red card, 3 points were there for the taking. Pretty disappointing not to even come away with a point - especially with Chippenham and Farnborough both winning. Hopefully staying up will become a mathematical certainty on Saturday though.
Dowse spitting feathers in his post match comments about letting Maidenhead off the hook. Whilst we are 90% safe, our lack of consistency game to game is clearly making him wonder about who stays from the current squad for next season. And fair comment too if we intend to be anything more than a make-weight in the league. Under Dowse we are averaging around 1.3 points per game which would place us mid table in the current division. All of course depends on what sort of budget we can provide. A third of the current squad will automatically disappear returning to their parent clubs and another third will be released as having not been good or fit enough ( I do hope we haven't given Ince a two year contract!).Of the rest I can think of only a handful that deserve automatic re-signing. Some of the senior players may not make the cut depending who we might be able to attract. So another squad rebuilding a distinct likelihood.
