Stevenage, newly promoted to League one sent their entire first team squad to Beveree (including future Beaver, Alan Julian, returning to Stevenage after an absence of 3 years). Moone and Simmonds both had early chances as Hampton started off confidently. Both teams then started to trade chances, Chiweshe tipped over a Jon Aston effort; Moone had a twenty- yard effort blocked; Lawrie Watson blasted over from a similar distance. Just before half time Moone crossed from the right and Duff headed the ball home, despite Julian’s efforts to keep the ball out. Multiple substitutions occurred at half time. Stevenage’s new signing Robin Shroot headed over the visitors best chance of the game. Either team could have added to the score but many efforts went wide of the mark. A typical pre-season friendly.
