Yep entirely expected. Dowse is close i think particularly as by all accounts the budget is reasonable and all of our defeats have been pretty convincing. I always thought he was a good judge of a player but many of this seasons signings have been poor.

Maybe that Monks bloke is in charge of the signings, like he was at Hartlepool. He’s not exactly well liked by their fanbase because of the amount of poor short-term loans and permanent signings he made there.

Forgot about him, seems not to be mentioned at all by the club. The fact that we signed so many from Aldershot suggests they were Dowse signings. I suspect Hassan may have been a Max K intro given both played at Wealdstone. After that it's hard to say although I would be very surprised if recruitment is something Dowse would outsource. His approach can be a bit scattergun but the can usually find a few diamonds amongst the also rans.

My goodness that hadn't occurred to me...I do hope we haven't gone down that route. It's one of the most ridiculous things about modern Premier/EFL football that the manager seems to have less to do with deciding about signings. I can't really see Dowse being a willing participant with such an approach, but maybe I'm wrong?

I doubt Monks had much say, his arrival was announced quite late into pre-season, and we had already signed up a lot of players. Also would doubt Dowse would want to be a manager of a club where someone else is making the signings.

As others have said, I did wonder why he took the job as he was always on a hiding to nothing with yet another small budget. And probably done his future managerial ambitions no end of harm.Dowse needs some results pretty sharpish or he could suffer the same fate.
Indeed. As I said on here just a few weeks ago I think it was a terrible decision by Jules to take the job.

Having said that and having read the glowing testimonial Slough have just given him six games doesn't seem to have been much of a chance for a man they appointed and who they reckon was so impressive. Sometimes I think clubs need to ignore the instant knee-jerk reactions of their supporters and back the decisions they themselves made based in this case on their own knowledge of their budget limitations and likely struggles.

I'm sure it sure co-incidence, but the club had just posted an interview with Joe Monks about his role. Would seem not that involved to date in player recruitment. Lots going on off the pitch which is good but makes me even more concerned that we need to stay in this division.

The club has published an interview with Joe Monks today https://hamrichfc.com/blogs/news/an-upd ... -joe-monks
Seems to make it clear he is nothing to do with player recruitment

Just had a read through. Confirms the academy will reopen from next season and a standalone “youth” team will play in the FA Youth Cup and Middlesex FA Senior Cup.

Someone’s been reading the forum.

Nice to have some clarity! Dowse needs a major overhaul of this squad and fast.

Not going to be that easy if most of the squad is on contract.

... and signed by Dowse in the first place. What makes us believe he would do better second time around?
