Gary McCann isn't full time, so very hard to invest enough time into doing more than he currently does.
Would a Director of Football type position be worthwhile, could someone be attracted to do it, with a sort of head scout role, they identify talent throughout age groups and at local clubs further down the pyramid.
The talent is certainly there.
I see it in the Midlands, clubs at step 2 or 3 snapping up players from the Midland Football League (equivalent of Combined Counties) and then after a year or two go even higher, loads moving into pro football.
I've seen some amazing youngsters come through at Alvechurch over the last few years, who are now at football league clubs, or full time national league clubs.

This isn't a knock on what Hampton have by the way, it's just, does a plan need to go in place with a structure to help support Gary and ease the burden of identifying players, and building a structure.

Sutton United's success has been built on their fantastic academy that has helped fund and produce talent.

It's getting harder, as step 2 even has lots of full time clubs now.

Probably cheaper to make Gary full time. Not sure the club is in the market for adding more overhead at this time.
