Walton & Hersham v Basingstoke, top of the table clash it is then. Goal machine Eddie Simon going for his fifth hat trick in a row plus a few former Beavers on show.

Disappointing as I had already made my soup for the thermos flask. Off to Walton then.

For those going to Walton it will give them an indication of how artificial pitches play in this type of weather.

The pitch played very well I thought, as did Walton & H - 5-1 winners, soup everywhere…

Walton were very impressive in a 5-1 win over a rather lacklustre Basingstoke and now go top. 1,651 in attendance. Simon got their first but no more. Ex Beaver Harry Mills scored a penalty. Walton play an attractive passing game and are well worth watching if you get the opportunity.

Very good gate, way above average for the club and the league? Many Hampton supporters there?

A fair few and I guess a lot of neutrals. Far too few stewards for the size of crowd and no tannoy. Safety announcements by Twitter!

The surface certainly helped the passing game, but even then there was a bit of bobble off the 3G surface.
