If Dover had been relegated, then there would have been a decision as to whether they would be replaced and by what method. No doubt a certain club chairman would be claiming that spot!

Perhaps a more sensible decision would have been relegation thus leaving the National league with an even 22 clubs and balancing our league into an even number.
Would be interested to see who was on this independent panel. Very much seems like The NL trying to avoid responsibility for managing their own rules. It is not going to make the clubs who were sanctioned feel and better about it.Rob Overfield wrote: ↑Sat Mar 27, 2021 1:12 pmGoing to split hairs here and say that the League did not hand out the decisions or punishments, it was an independent panel, acting on behalf of the League.Tony wrote: ↑Sat Mar 27, 2021 10:15 am The NL has now handed out fines to the clubs who refused to play (Dover £40,000!) and given them suspended points deductions for next season. As you can imagine this is like pouring petrol on a lit fire and clubs are now being canvassed for a vote of no confidence in the NL board. If successful the very existence of the NL could be in question. Why the NL could not just have left it at a suspended points deduction is beyond me. Clubs now being fined because the NL board messed up the grants situation leaving many of their own clubs financially exposed.
Although, I do think the level of fines were a bit OTT. I was half expecting Dover to be demoted to our division though.

I don’t know if it’s standard procedure for all disciplinary matters, but an INDEPENDENT panel is right, IMO, as then it would avoid unconscious bias by any sitting board member. You could have a situation where, for an example, someone with a bias against a club could rule for an excessive punishment, purely on that bias. A panel of independent people would minimise this.
Maybe no bias in the decision but completely tin-eared when it came to decision to fine clubs. Someone is going to say, it’s a dangerous precedent if you don’t fine clubs for refusing to play. But you have to look at the circumstances which were definitely not of their own making and genuinely put clubs in the difficult position of choosing survival or insolvency. The vote of no confidence is now being canvassed by Dorking and Maidstone so will be interesting to see if we support or not. Can any club really have confidence in the current NL board? But what do you replace it with? The Marc White fan club.

Pretty sure he would not be joining the Board at Dorking!
We seem to have an exceptional club spirit at the moment and the work being done by our excellent board is an essential part of that. I cannot see any way in which that club spirit would be enhanced by co-opting Brian Barwick onto the board. And didn't his previous brief stay on our board all end in tears, anyway?
