THOSE WERE THE DAYS
August 31st 1991
F A Cup Preliminary Qualifying Round
Hampton 3 Haywards Heath Town 0 Att; 143
Beadle, Ewing, Reed

David Hook; Chris O’Neill, Simon Edwards, Leo Cook, Chris Holding, Tim Hollands, Micky Beadle (Paul Reed, 81’), Steve Bates, Gary Jenkins, Gary Ewing, Jason Fenton.
Unused Sub; Martin Heath

It took until just before the hour mark before Hampton were able to turn their dominance into goals. A Jenkins through ball gave Beadle the chance to fire in the first goal from the edge of the penalty area. Despite all of Hampton’s pressure, there was still only one goal in it until the last few minutes. In the 86th minute Ewing latched on to Edwards’ pass and, rounding Heath’s keeper, Browne, rolled the ball into an empty net. Reed who had replaced the tiring Beadle in the 81st minute completed the scoring with the last kick of the game.
