THOSE WERE THE DAYS
October 12th 1963
F A Amateur Cup 1st Qualifying Round
Ruislip Manor 0 Hampton 3
Whing 3

Joe Andrews; Gerry Biggs, Roger Blackmore, Peter Jennings, Ron King, Don Bevan, Jakie Cooper, Ron Griffin, Johnny Whing, George Hill, David Lloyd

Hampton’s superiority was underlined in only the 7th minute when Whing coolly took a pass from Bevan and from the edge of the penalty area scored with a tremendous shot. The Hampton defence dealt with any Manor attacks, King, and keeper, Andrews, were outstanding. Shortly after the interval Whing netted his second with a header from a cross provided by Griffin. At one stage Hampton had seven men up in attack so it was no real surprise when Whing completed his hat trick in the 70th minute, following a move involving Cooper and Griffin. Hampton were able to take it easy for the last twenty minutes as they eased their way into the 2nd Qualifying Round.

Johnny Whing. Amazing goal scorer a record 295 goals for K's before coming to Hampton fc.

Agree about Whing, he only played a couple of seasons with us but his goals per game is one of the best if not the best. Tremendous in the air. Obviously Ks had the best of him and when he joined us he had injury issues. One of my favourite players in those early years along with Roger Blackmore.
Happy days!
