THOSE WERE THE DAYS

Hampton’s recent run of five away wins and two home draws came to an end with a disappointing home loss against Billericay Town. In a quiet first half, Vagg was forced into a full length save from the Essex’s side only shot on target. Mooney was sent on to change the attacking options, whilst Di Palma (a new signing from Tooting & Mitcham United) was brought into the midfield, moves which seemed to give Hampton a little more impetus. Billericay had mainly relied on breakaways and it was from one of these that the visitors scored. Vagg was forced to punch the ball clear however the Linesman spotted that the Hampton keeper had stepped out of the penalty area. While Hampton were still trying to sort out their defensive wall, Russell Kean took the free-kick which completely took everyone unawares. Hampton supporters could only watch in horror as his tap shot rolled out of the reach of Vagg.
