THOSE WERE THE DAYS
2nd November 1982
Isthmian (Servowarm) League Division 1
Kingstonian 2 Hampton 3
Heselden, Shodeinde, Hollands

Paul Riley; Peter Bartlett, Tim Hollands, Richard Smith, Steve Smith, John Chilvers, Perry Tunesi, Peter Shodeinde, Mick Heselden, Paul Rushbrook, Steve Giddings.
Sub; Mark Cobb

Hampton took revenge for an earlier 3-1 home defeat at the hands of Kingstonian with a 3-2 win that propelled them to the top of the division. A fast and furious local derby. Riley parried a shot away by Martin Hinshelwood in the 41st minute but John Martin was on hand to score. Three minutes later a Heselden volley made it 1-1. Hampton took the lead in the second half when Shodeinde went on a run and shot past Graham Yates. A Hollands header made it 3-1 but, with three minutes left, Keith Mead scored with a free-kick. Hampton managed to hold on for a very good win.
