Premier Division leaders Hampton needed extra-time to see off Division One play-off challengers, Dulwich Hamlet, in this Isthmian League Cup tie. Traffic problems on the M3 had led to hasty changes to Hampton’s line-up, and the persistent rain did little to add to the night’s ‘entertainment’. There was very little to enthuse over the ninety minutes to be fair, it took until the 85th minute for Dulwich keeper Paul Seuke to make his first save. And so, the game went into extra-time.
The only goal came a couple of minutes into the extra period when Dulwich keeper, Seuke, dived to collect an innocuous low cross from wing-back Harper. The ball squeezed between Seuke’s gloves, squirmed under his body and spun painstakingly, over the line.
A farcical and humorous winner for Hampton, one doubts that Dulwich were amused!
