THOSE WERE THE DAYS
17th December 1985
Isthmian (AC Delco) League Cup 3rd Round
Hampton 3 Lewes 2 Att; 118
F Wilson, Wigmore, Tunesi

Chris Vagg; Robert Winterhalter, Malcolm Dickenson, Tim Hollands, Jim Wigmore, Sean O’Connell, Perry Tunesi, Mark Wilson, Ricky Walkes, Fred Wilson, Steve Russell (Paul Couch, 62).

Hampton reached the Quarter-Finals of the AC Delco League Cup the hard way, creating and wasting good chances before going a goal down to a swerving shot from Mark Reed that deceived Vagg. On the half hour, Walkes set up Fred Wilson who cut inside and lifted a shot over the Lewes keeper, Armstrong. Five minutes before half time, Lewes regained the lead through Andy Barter. Immediately after Hampton’s substitution, when Couch replaced Russell in the 62nd minute, it was 2-2, Wigmore back-heading Winterhalter’s free kick. On the 69th minute Hampton took the lead for the first time. Couch, after a good run down the right, sent in a low cross that Tunesi was able to side-foot home.
