After what seems an eternity we have some live football this evening. As for the team, I would expect to see some trialists, plus a few first team players as well as some of the academy players. Looking forward to hearing the team news.
Of the players taking part, perhaps only two would be certain starters for the first league game, Gondoh and Farrell. Uche played well at centre half and the remainder were mostly trialists and Academy. Daniel our signing from Ks was unimpressive. I think he is a better player than he showed tonight so put it down to rustiness. Hence we were more disjointed in our play. Of the trialists, a couple of lads out of Brentford U18s, a couple of centre forwards, a winger from Hanworth Villa and a midfielder from AFCW. Not sure any really grabbed the attention sufficiently to earn a place but no doubt some will get another chance. Not a game to last in the memory.

Management will quite rightly say that these friendlies are all about game time, but it must be almost impossible for triallists to show their true worth when lumped together in a side where hardly any will have played together before. As a result, none of the unfamiliar players really looked worth a second chance last night.
Thanks for the info on this, much appreciated.Tony wrote: ↑Tue Jul 06, 2021 11:08 pm Of the players taking part, perhaps only two would be certain starters for the first league game, Gondoh and Farrell. Perhaps the games against Brentford and QPR are a chance for Gary to make links and possible get a loan signing or two.
Isn't that how we ended up with a certain Dean Wells one season as he got released.... didn't work out to badly.
oh and Rafael Nade, as QPR chose to sign Doudou instead.

He did say he was looking at a couple of forwards, as we are down to one fit striker with Nathan injured. The loan might be a fall back position if the permanent one fail.
