Well we looked a bit better in the second half, the subs definitely made some difference but that has to be put down as a game to forget.
Poor performance, the first for a while. Thomas was forced off with an injury early in the first half and this was a big blow. He went to hospital, leaving the ground on crutches, and from Mel’s interview, it doesn’t sound good. To concede a second at the end of the first half was frustrating, and whilst the second half was better, it was overall a disappointing display. The unbeaten run had to end at some point, but on a positive note, Anifowose was superb when he came on at half time, scoring an very well taken goal, and put in an excellent case for a starting place.

From his interview it seems that Thomas has experienced a serious injury. Mel seems to accept that a defeat would come at some time. Billericay played well to their strengths and perhaps we did not adapt that well to their pitch.
Onto Hartlepool and another tough game.
Yes Braintree oops!

I thought it was a bit of a churlish interview from Mel. No need. The run has been amazing and had to come to an end at some point. No blame or excuses required.Shepperton Supporter wrote: ↑Sat Jan 06, 2024 6:00 pm From his interview it seems that Thomas has experienced a serious injury. We were very poor in the first half, Jordan Thomas' injury looked to be his ankle so I wish him a successful recovery. Anifowose changed the game when he came on, he dribbled forward well and played some good through passes, and his finish was good as well. Results have gone our way, as we are still 2nd, and 2 points off Chelmsford, who are 3rd. Luis Fernandez picked up a nasty-looking knock midway through the 2nd half but carried on. Onto Hartlepool., Anifowose needs to start there. The unbeaten run was bound to come to an end.
I think we should start him at Hartlepool. Since Josh joined, we have mostly had a poor 1st half, usually trailing at half time. It could be worth him starting at Hartlepool considering they are in the NL, making sure we don't give ourselves too much work to do in the second half. If he's not ready, he's an impact sub who can really change a game.
