Thanks Tony for the report. We have both highlighted the need at central defence recruitment. Let’s hope this can be achieved. We should have won against this type of opponent. The next few games will give a better indication of the strength of the squad.

I don't think results matter very much at this stage. Let's not forget that only four of the starting XI were playing at Step 2 last season and only one in the second wave. Six of the signed squad were not present, either injured or unavailable. We totally dominated possession and created chances but perhaps guilty of not being a bit more clinical. As far as it went it was positive but we need to temper that against needing to be tested more defensively. Also would like see if there is an alternative to Wall given his fitness record last year. Babajide looks better coming off the left than perhaps with his back to goal. Roberts might be able to do that job or perhaps we might see if we can bring in loanees. Also need cover for LB if Campbell is not available. Quite a few options in attacking wide players but can't see them all getting enough minutes to keep them all happy once the season gets going.

I’d be spending money on CB options right now. Revan might be better used at RB though Taylor looked good both times I’ve seen him.
I preferred Revan at RB last season. Playing him at CB seems to waste his talent for getting down the flank.

Would agree but seems we can cover right back easier than central defence. With Cheadle unfit we are struggling in this area.

I see that Chesham won 2-0 at Chertsey yesterday. Again it depends what sides played but it further emphasis the recruitment some of the promoted teams have done.
I hope I am wrong, but this season could be a difficult one for us.

Last night was the first preseason game of ours that I've seen, and based on the first half (before all the subs came on) I'm a lot more optimistic than I was.

Bishop’s Stortford lost at home to Welling 3-1 which again might give us a pointer when we play them.

Oxford have pulled out of Tuesday's friendly, we will now play Barnet instead.

Just wonder if Mel who has been on their bench, might have felt uncomfortable with such a quick return to .Beveree.

Unclear why Oxford City pulled out of the planned friendly. Maybe Mel G put in a word with his former Barnet colleagues to fill the gap.
