Hampton gave Rohan Ince a contract. A player who hadn't played in how long, and was well past 30 with no sell on value.

Yet young Finn, a young prospect, was not given a contract at left for free to join Birmingham City, a contract to a young player that could have netted a transfer fee, or at the very least payments for appearances or sell on percentage.

Maybe they see his value, a good age, and protecting an asset that could have value if someone comes in for him.

Well personally I wouldn't have given Ince a contract either. But ex full time EFL players end up at non league clubs for a reason, either they are injury prone or can't cut it any more. Plus knocking Dorking, or more specifically their Manager, is just fun. His persona, in all the many hours of social media he does just screams out for it.

Ebbsfleet have been in negotiations for some time to sell the club but the sale has just hit a snag.It appears to be dependent on a property development which has been turned down by the Secretary of Stare so I guess the purchasers have pulled back for the time being at least. The NL are not convinced Ebbsfleet are financially viable without the sale. I suspect the vendor is reluctant to put in any more money with the sale so close but may be forced to do so to avoid Ebbsfleet from collapsing.The fact that Ebbsfleet have built up a debt of £20M rather suggests this has been a property play from the beginning.

Oh dear, that all looks like a huge breakdown in communication doesn't it? You can't help but wonder if this doesn't look good in the long term for Walton.

No doubt the council is not as easy to deal with as a commercial organisation would be, but it has always felt to me that the club has been pushing overly hard and sees itself as way too much of a victim. As far as I see, the club was the first in starting to make this dispute public and clearly now it has escalated to a stage where it would appear even more difficult to resolve. I believe the council entered into a long-term contract with the stadium operator years ago. Now that doesn't suit Walton and Hersham and they want the ability to earn matchday bar profits for themselves. I would have thought they would be better off taking a less aggressive approach in trying to re-negotiate from what appears to be a position of weakness.

Methinks this is very one-sided and WHFC are conveniently forgetting a lot of history. The club previously leased Stompond Lane from the council but they fell out, payments weren't made and the ground fell into disrepair. The council wanted to sell Stompond Lane for development in order to fund a new sports facility - the Walton Hub - for the benefit of all of Elmbridge. The council would have been well within their rights to do this and leave WHFC homeless which with the club on it's knees due to the previous ownership may well have been the end for them. However agreement was made for them to play at the Hub and contracts were signed and the club started playing games at the new venue. From the very start a small but vociferous number of their supporters took every opportunity to badmouth the facilities and the council conveniently forgetting if it wasn't for the council they wouldn't have a ground and that it was their club who chose to accept the terms on offer to move.

Move on a few years and as we know WHFC have new(ish) owners and have very successfully climbed the pyramid and now they are seemingly regretting the contract they signed with the council and want things to change. The problem is that the council like just every other council in the country doesn't have money to spare and they have to fund projects that benefit the whole community not just a few hundred football supporters. They also have contracts in place with other companies who provide services to the Hub contracts which presumably they can't just cancel or re-negotiate because the football club has now needs more money to operate at a higher level.

The situation hasn't been helped by the previously mentioned small but vociferous number of supporters waging a campaign against the council - raising a petition, using social media to publicise and encourage others to demand to know why the council are working against the football club, why they are making life so difficult for the supporters, why they are driving them out of the area etc etc so it's a bit rich (ok completely hypocritical) for the club now to criticise the council for placing "this dispute into the public domain".

I'm afraid WHFC to me come across as a very entitled bunch. Like everyone else they should show a bit of gratitude when they have been helped, abide by the agreements they have signed and stop blaming others for the situation they are in.

(I should state I have no involvement with Elmbridge Borough Council other than to pay them my council tax which frankly I would hope they spend on far more worthwhile projects).

Update to this: Aldershot Town, AFC Fylde and Altrincham have had their embargos lifted. Hornchurch also expect to have theirs lifted by the end of the week.
