Hampton made light of a very heavy, muddy Beveree pitch to knock a strong Brentford side out of the Middlesex Charity Cup. Brentford’s keeper, Bayes was much the busier of the keepers as Orkney had precious little to do until the last few minutes. Brentford looked distinctly nervy at the back whilst Hampton seemed to revel in the slippery conditions. Hampton’s opening goal came after Walkes had won a corner, Shafique’s pin-point cross allowed Kuhne to head in from under the crossbar. Bayes then denied Kuhne a goal just before half-time. The second half was a more even contest however a Shafique effort almost gave Hampton a second. Eight minutes from time Hampton made the game safe. A Rattue free-kick scudded across the surface and found Lucas lurking at the far post to sweep the ball in. In the last five minutes Orkney made a good save from Webb, and Brand saw a shot just fly wide. Hampton would lose to Ruislip Manor in the Quarter-Final.
