The Club Car leaves Broad lane for Torquay. On Saturday at 8am. All seats booked. And The Soup is Chicken. The Club car says a 1.1 draw.

We play another well fancied team who are unbeaten at home in the league. To get anything would be a very great success.
We need to realise that these ex league clubs have support and financial backing that we could only dream of.
As with Boreham Wood they have been in the national league for some seasons and again have good financial support. Our league splits into perhaps three mini leagues the top sides with their finances, a middle group many sides not always full time and those who will struggle, having often just been promoted. Hopefully we can currently fit into the middle group.

I was thinking much the same thing today. The NLS is slowly filling up with full time teams with bigger budgets who have spent some seasons in the NL. It’s hard to see a team outside of this group winning the NLS. Everyone else is playing for 6th or 7th place. Maybe the investors were right to spend a lot of money on gaining a play off place but maybe didn’t spend quite enough at the right time. Of course still odds against winning the play offs and then you have to spend it all again next season if you miss out.

Our financial position is complicated by the control being with the brothers company, as I see it for a new investor to come in he/they would have to settle them before any fresh funds. To remain competitive in this league it needs season by season investment. Getting in increased revenue from advertising etc would be a step in the right direction.

A couple of changes, not totally surprising.
Merrick, Revan, Byrd, Wiltshire, Campbell, Atkinson, Hunt, Kenya, Williams, Villhete, and Roberts.
On bench Wall, Taylor, Evans, Babajide,, Masampu,
Looks like Revan will be right back.

I think we were in 2nd with a few games to go then dropped off dramatically. Perhaps a lack of clarity over funding for this season impacted the squad in the run in.Tony wrote: Fri Jan 24, 2025 9:43 pm Maybe the investors were right to spend a lot of money on gaining a play off place but maybe didn’t spend quite enough at the right time.
