Preview from our visitors.

It’s a game we need to win after recent result against form teams. Interesting team selection for Alan to ponder on. Wonder if we will see our new signing, off the bench maybe?

As the preview says, we have a good home record against Chippenham. They are solidly mid table this season but can spring the odd surprise as when they beat Boreham Wood 4-1 recently, so need to be respected. I hope we get to see something of the new signing today. Basingstoke fans have been very complimentary about him and fans usually are the best guide in such matters.

The midfield is so much stronger this season than last. If you think we relied on the likes of Dunne and Deadfield last season, no comparison to Atkinson and Keeya. Hunt is very solid. Not sure Page is athletic enough to force his way in especially hearing reports of how good the new signing is.

A game we should have won easily but didn’t take our chances. Totally dominant in the second half with Chippenham content to sit deep and defend their lead. Roberts missed a penalty again but Taylor scored with a direct freekick just before half time to make it 2-1. Their second came from Page getting caught in possession leaving Merrick stranded out of his area and lobbed from 40 yards.

A very frustrating game. A breakaway and a mistake led to their goals. I think Mr Page looks more comfortable going forwards than backwards as a defensive midfielder.

Not because of the free kick, but I think Archy is becoming a really good player. Causes sides problems with his runs inside and out.

Not the sort of tackle Atkinson would have lost.

Totally agree. I think Atkinson has been one of our best signings and to leave him on the bench while Page starts is an interesting decision to say the least.
