Vini, Vidi, Vici. Alan Devonshire’s first return to his old stamping ground ended in victory for Hampton. In the other technical area was ex-Beaver, Johnson Hippolyte. The Beavers took full advantage of an uncertain looking Maidenhead side, who, before the game, trying to dismiss their complex about playing at home, even experimented with a 30-minute coach trip around the local area. All to no avail, as Hampton took a 2-0 lead before half-time. Godfrey scored the opener when he finished off a four man move. In the 37th minute a long throw by Wells led to a cross which was firmly headed in by Hodges, having got in amongst the defenders. The nearest that the Magpies got to a goal in the first half was when Ryan Lake headed a cross away from under the crossbar. The second half saw the home side come back into the game and in the 66th minute Manny Williams scrambled the ball in following a corner. Hampton had enough in the tank to keep Maidenhead at bay, not always pretty, but they recorded their eighth win away from home.
