Posting day early, away for a few days...
THOSE WERE THE DAYS
10th November 2012
F A Trophy 3rd Qualifying Round
Leiston 1 (Heath) HRBFC 1 (Moone 16’) Att; 201
HRBFC-
Rodney Chiweshe; Michael Kamara, Neil Jenkins, Tom Hickey, Max Hustwick, Joe Turner, Joel Ledgister, Gary Holloway, Charlie Moone, Mohammed Bettamer (Jon-Jo Bates, 72’), Mo Harkin.
Unused Subs; Anson Cousins, Jerome Paul.
A long slog into East Anglia and a second visit to Leiston in a month produced a similar result – a draw, which meant Leiston having to do the reverse trip on a Tuesday night. The conditions were tricky, steady rain and confident opponents. Hampton set up to do a job, don’t lose, but take any chances available. In the 16th minute Moone carried out his part when he glanced Legister’s cross over the keeper, Danny Potter, and into the back of the net. Potter made a couple of vital saves in the first half from Turner and Bettamer. The second half opened with an invigorated Leiston who very quickly levelled the score, a cross eluded Harkin and Gareth Heath buried the ball past Chiweshe. In the 57th minute Bettamer hooked an overhead kick wide. Moone appeared to have scored a second, but, despite appearing late on the scene was adjudged offside by the raising of the Assistant’s flag. Leiston’s Manny Osei struck the crossbar with Chiweshe, beaten and back-peddling. Both teams had chances to settle the game in the final five minutes, including a good shout by Leiston for a penalty. As it was it all down to Beveree for a Tuesday game under lights, the Beavers winning 3-2 and progressing on to lose out to Chelmsford after a replay.
