Having accounted for Leatherhead and Brentwood Town in their previous two matches, Hampton took another giant step on the way to winning the Championship. Starting positively, Hampton were in charge from the first whistle. Hutchinson opened the scoring when he guided the ball past Aaron Bufton in the 14th minute. Bufton came under pressure again when Kiernan and Murphy both went close. Hampton went 2-0 ahead when Kabamba flicked a header on to Kiernan, who supplied the finish. The result was never in doubt when a few minutes into the second half, a floated free-kick was met on the half-volley by centre-back Diarra. Lowe almost made it 4-0 in the last few minutes, but his effort was deflected over the cross-bar. Hampton keeper, Smith, had precious little to do, given the control that the Beavers exercised over Farnborough.
