Hampton were making their first appearance in the Southern Combination Cup Final. Hampton’s opponents were Aldershot Services, an Army team, that played in the Surrey Senior League. Plenty of goals for the crowd to enjoy, and reportedly a very entertaining game. King and Allen gave Hampton the lead before Corporal B Last scored a minute before the interval. In the second half, Myers, put Hampton 3-1 up. The Services fought back when Bombardier J McQueenie’s shot deflected off Dove’s foot. King then scored his second, and Hampton’s fourth. With a minute to go Last scored his second, with Hampton leading 4-3, the visitors almost scored a fourth. A long kick forward by Lance Corporal J Logan had to be cleared by Johnson heading clear. Hampton have won the Cup seven times, with one shared.
