Joe Andrews; Alan Earl, Keith Hanna, Dave Johnson, Graham Belcher, Ray Monk, Doug Haslegrave (Brian Myers), Mickey Roach, Peter Allen, Peter Farren, Athur Rowlands.

Seeking to regain the Spartan Championship (a distant fourth to Vauxhall Motors, the previous season), Hampton got off to an excellent start with a 4-0 win over Huntley & Palmers. The opening goal was scored by new signing Farren, signed from Feltham, just fifteen minutes into his debut. Allen and Farren worked a good position, Farren on hand to finish Allen’s deflected shot. Five minutes later Allen got onto the scoresheet, taking Rowland’s pass and dribbling the ball round the H&P keeper. The third goal came just before half-time, once again it was a player taking advantage of a defensive error. Rowland hit a hard drive from twenty yards out, the keeper failed to hold the ball and Haslegrave, following up, scored his first senior goal for the club. During the second half there was plenty of ‘physical’, one instance leading to a penalty to Hampton, however, Monk heaved the ball over the bar. Normal service was resumed fifteen minutes from the end, Roach and Monk created a chance for Farren who slotted the ball in from fifteen yards.
