No 25 THROUGH THE DECADES Part 4
A potted history of the club
The last part of a quick look through the club’s first 100 years.

THE 2000s
Following relegation from Isthmian Premier in 2003, Alan Devonshire (ex-England & West Ham) is appointed Manager during the Summer, 444 games over 8 years. Two promotions gained, including a first Isthmian League Championship. Two Conference South Play-Off Finals, both lost. Record attendance; 3,225 against AFC Wimbledon. Two Middlesex Senior Cup wins. In July 2008, an all-ticket crowd of 3,118 witnessed a pre-season friendly against the full West Ham United first team. HRBFC Supporters Trust established in 2008 with the aim of providing the club with long term assistance (including financial).

THE 2010’s
After Alan Devonshire’s departure, the club has four management teams during the decade. 2011/12, relegation from Conference South/ Middlesex Senior Cup won. 2013/14 Middlesex Senior Cup won (2nd time in 3 seasons against Wealdstone!) 2015/16, a second Isthmian League Championship under manager, Alan Dowson. Jamal Lowe & Nicke Kabamba both join from Hemel Hempstead Town. 2016/17, Conference South Play-Off Semi-Final defeat. Lowe & Kabamba join League 1, Portsmouth. 2017/18, Conference South Play Off Final defeat (lost on penalties, 3,127 attendance).2018/19, F A Cup 1st Round Proper, under manager, Gary McCann, home to Oldham Athletic, (2-1 defeat in front of 2,720, live on BT Sport).

THE 2020s
Due to the Covid pandemic the 2019/20 season is suspended on March 14th and the 2020/21 season is halted after 22 matches. The F A Cup 1st Round Proper is reached for the second time under Gary McCann, the opponents are again Oldham Athletic (a 3-2 defeat behind closed doors at Beveree, on 8th November 2020). Covid-19 plays havoc with players/officials as games are postponed and re-arranged at short notice, without supporters allowed to attend. The club’s Media Team arrange to stream matches live on YouTube for free. The club is 100 years old during 2021 but any celebrations are put on hold. Supporters are allowed to return to watch matches in 2021/22 but under strict Covid protocols.

100 years old…but still standing.
