THOSE WERE THE DAYS
April 11th 1987
Isthmian League (Vauxhall-Opel) Division 1
Leatherhead 1 Hampton 2 Att; 179
Walkes, Dickenson

Paul Ripley; Gary Gerson, Bobby Green, Gary Cambridge, Tim Hollands, Sean O’Connell, Micky Beadle, Malcolm Dickenson, Ricky Walkes (Lee Mooney, 81’), Sean Rice (Tarquin Woollard, 86’), Zarak Shafique.

A game that almost boiled over. Former Beaver, Chris Hills, was sent off for kicking Hollands. Two more bookings followed for Leatherhead players as well as Walkes (who had only just returned from suspension!). Indeed, it was Walkes who opened the scoring just before half-time. Leatherhead equalised just after half-time through John Hales (another ex-Beaver). Hampton regained the lead shortly after when Dickenson glanced a header from an O’Connell free-kick past keeper, Peter Carswell.
Ricky Walkes scored 90 goals in 262 appearances,from 1984 to 1991.
