It’s about getting the right balance, especially up front, agree a heavy reliance on one player has potential downsides.
Any of us would take Jeffers or a player of his goal potential. We currently have 12 signed, according to Mel he was looking at a squad size of circa 18 to 20. Let’s see who Mel has up his sleeve, recruitment has not finished, most clubs have not yet announced their retained lists.

Maybe Mel plans to build a squad of 23-25 and loan out some of these young players so they are ready for the future (which would create a squad circa to 18-20) as he labelled the two new signings exciting projects which to me suggests they maybe aren’t players that are going to be used right now but more for the long term.

Seeing the players AFC have released I think Aaron Cosgrave would be a tremendous signing if we could get it done and also George Marsh.

Cosgrave i believe did really well at Kings Lynn at the back end of this season.

All these theoretical signings come back to budget and that’s the one bit missing from fan’s knowledge. We are just guessing that there will be a bigger budget that will allow some marquee style signings but could easily be wrong given the amount of off pitch investment being made. Of the players retained we know they should be capable of a better finish than 17th and if we can add a proven goal scorer then we should be top half at least. 13 missed penalties converted would make a reasonable impact for a start.

Well even if we kept the old budget we should be able to afford a lot of the players mentioned, Tommy Wood was on around 700 a week from what I was hearing, so I don’t think the budget were as small as it was made out to be.

The size of the budget is a topic that has much speculation and as to its level to others in our league cannot be debated without data. Managers talk and so they might have a better idea?
I still feel we have some players to come who will get fans happy. Let’s wait and hope!
