THOSE WERE THE DAYS
May 5th 1990
Isthmian (Vauxhall-Opel) League Division 1
Wembley 3 Hampton 1
Downs

David Hook; Mike Payne, Mark Gill, Malcolm Dickenson, Steve Cheshire, Dave Rattue, Steve Kuhne, Paul Lucas, Mark Joyner, Wayne Falloon, Brian Bere.
Subs; Billy Thistleton & Matt Downs.

The curtain came down on Hampton’s long stay in Division One, with them needing to win by five clear goals, they succumbed to a 3-1 defeat. Wembley snatched the lead on the stroke of half time, increasing their lead in the 78th minute. The third goal came a few minutes later and almost a fourth, but Larkin’s shot flew just over. All Hampton had to show was an 85th minute consolation strike from substitute Downs. Hampton’s goal was only the 28th of the season and therein lay the problem for the Beavers.
