THOSE WERE THE DAYS
May 11th 1974
Isthmian (Rothmans) League Division 2
Hampton 1 Hertford Town 1
Cook

Chris Page; Paul Mason, Kevin Sheehan, Brian Crandley, Alan Earl, Micky Cook, Ted Yorke, Mike Nicks, David Kitchener, John Peasgood, Steve Ball.

Hampton came back from a goal down thanks to a spectacular effort from Cook. Myatt gave the visitors the lead in the 31st minute. After this Hertford confidently sat back and looked to see out the game. After the half time break, Hampton came out with a little more purpose. On the hour mark, Hampton equalised. Kitchener and Earl exchanged passes on the right, Earl headed infield, a Hertford defender headed the ball into Cook’s path, he lashed out instantly with a rocket which left everyone standing, the ball hit the underside of the bar and bounced down over the line. Nicks had an opportunity to win the game in the 89th minute, but shot wide.
