THOSE WERE THE DAYS
October 6th 1990
Isthmian (Vauxhall-Opel) League Division 2 (South)
Camberley Town 0 Hampton 5
Kuhne 2, Joyner 2, McPherson

David Hook; Mike Dalton, Billy Thistleton, Malcolm Dickenson, Paul Lucas, Dave Rattue, Mark Joyner, Erik Kajdi, Steve Kuhne, Steve McPherson (Kevin Smyth), Simon Thompson (Chris O’Neill).

Camberley’s ground was out of action due to a fire, so this game was played at Chertsey Town. Playing into a torrent of rain, horizontal at time, Hampton took the lead after 40 seconds. An interchange of passes between Kuhne and McPherson ended with McPherson netting. Joyner headed in the second in the 23rd minute with Dalton the provider. The third goal came courtesy of another passing movement involving Kuhne and McPherson, this time it was Kuhne who finished off the move. In the 62nd minute, substitute Smyth sent over a high cross that was headed in by Kuhne (his 6th goal in four matches) to put Hampton 4-0 up. Camberley keeper, Rowe, was relieved to see a shot from Kuhne whistle past the post and then he tipped over a Rattue free-kick. Rattue set up the fifth in the 84th minute, his cross met by another Joyner header. Camberley were perhaps fortunate to get away with just a 5-0 defeat!
