THOSE WERE THE DAYS
23rd November 2013
Isthmian (Ryman) League Premier Division
Billericay Town 1 HRBFC 2 Att; 301
Moone 2

Rodney Chiweshe; Tommy Brewer (Karle Carder, 25), Dean Wells, Stuart Lake, Darren Powell, Justyn Roberts, Joe Turner (Belal Aite-Quakrim, 74), Tom Hickey, Dan Thompson, Charlie Moone, James Simmonds (Billy Jeffries, 75).
Unused Subs; Kofi Halliday, Luke Wanadio

After a late morning pitch inspection, the game went ahead on a heavy pitch which affected both team’s chances to play attractive football. Hampton went into an early lead when Turner cut in from the left and his defence-splitting pass was turned in by Moone, whose shot went under the body of ‘Ricay keeper, Lumley. Brewer limped off after 25 minutes with Turning moving to right-back. Ex-Beaver Joe Benjamin took advantage of a defensive mix-up to level the score in the 25th minute. As the match wore on, the pitch began to cut up alarmingly. Hickey was sent off in the 55th minute for a challenge that on another day might only have been a booking. Billericay failed to take advantage of the extra man although they might have scored if it hadn’t been for a full length save by Chiweshe. As the game went into added time a Lumley goal kick was headed straight back into the danger area, Moone found a gap, took the ball onto his left foot and shot from a narrow angle, the ball trickling into the far corner.
