THOSE WERE THE DAYS
29th December 2007
Football Conference (Blue Square) South
HRBFC 4 Hayes & Yeading United 1 Att; 541
McAuley 2, Harper, Quarm

Matt Lovett; Graham Harper, Barrie Matthews (Ryan Lake 3/60), Orlando Jeffrey, Rob Paris (Marcello Fernandes, 70), Dean Wells, Alan Inns, Shaun McAuley (Kelvin McIntosh, 70), Ian Hodges, Jack Jeffrey, Francis Quarm.
Unused subs; Elliott Godfrey, Glenn Harris.

Ex-Hayes & Yeading Utd’s Shaun McAuley enjoyed his afternoon at Beveree with a brace of goals against his former club. Hampton took the lead in the 26th minute when Delroy Preddie, United’s keeper, hampered by an injury struggled to get up for a cross, the ball dropping nicely for Harper to score from six yards. The visitors levelled through James Mulley before half-time, his cross from the right caught in the gusty wind and soared over Lovett into the far corner. McAuley then struck with two goals in seven minutes. Within seconds of the re-start Jack Jeffrey’s through ball allowed McAuley to run and strike a fierce shot. Minutes later, Hodges drew Preddie out of his goal then, unselfishly set up McAuley for a 3-1 lead. Ten minutes from time Quarm smashed the ball home after Jack Jeffrey, Hodges and Inns had all had chances blocked. Hampton’s win was their eleventh unbeaten league game in a row.
