THOSE WERE THE DAYS
16th January 1993
Isthmian League (Diadora) Division 2
Hampton 7 Tilbury 0 Att; 115
Cope 2, Parker, Hollands, Kuhne (p), Cheshire, M Beadle

David Hook; Mark Harper, Simon Edwards, Malcolm Dickenson, Steve Cheshire, Tim Hollands (Brian Bere), Tony Parker (Gary Cope), Gary Ewing, Steve Kuhne, Micky Beadle, Paul Reed.

Having been beaten by four goals in their last game, Hampton bounced back to hammer mid-table Tilbury. Parker got the entertainment under way with a goal after three minutes. Five minutes later Peter Gray beat out a shot from Reed only for Hollands to follow in. On the stroke of half time a Kuhne header found Cheshire who was promptly bundled over, Kuhne stepping up to score from the spot. Tilbury survived ten minutes into the second half before Cheshire bundled the ball in for Hampton’s fourth. Hampton kept control but no one was expecting the astonishing final four minutes of the game. Substitute, Cope made and scored the fifth in the 86th minute. Beadle was taking the Tilbury defence apart but it was the other substitute Bere who set up Beadle for the sixth goal. In the final minute Cope rounded the keeper and picked his spot to bring a final flourish to an excellent performance.
NB Cope only scored 3 goals in his Hampton career, 2 of them in this one game!
