THOSE WERE THE DAYS
28th March 2009

Hodges late header kept Hampton hot on the heels of AFC Wimbledon, the win became more relevant when news came through that the Dons had lost at Eastleigh. The Beavers went close in the first half Knight went close with a volley after 8 minutes then Ian Simpenba almost scored an own goal, Havant keeper Kevin Scriven could only watch as the ball curled wide of the post. Two minutes into the second half McAuley and Knight combined, Knight steering the ball home. Havant levelled in the 67th minute through Luke Nightingale. Long throw expert McDonald came on for the last twelve minutes. In those few minutes, Quarm headed over from his first effort, then in the 85th minute the tactic paid off when another long throw was headed past Scriven, by Hodges into the far corner.
