So the fog is slowly clearing. It would seem that the Ramayana owners are now taking a back seat allowing the new Chairman, Ben Hudson and MD, Will King, to run the club on a day to day basis. Simon Davers who was a Ramayana appointee remains on the board and company Secretary. James Newman ( Movember) also remains on the board as does Jacques Le Bars. Ramayana could of course change the board at any time using their shareholding but would seem that they will not have operational control although on a more strategic level I would imagine they will remain closely involved.

This ties into what Ben Hudson was saying yesterday. Clearly too many cooks spoiling the broth and yet no-one seemingly paying too much attention to what was being spent. The removal of Chelsea fan Scott Forbes may also allow a return to a proper kit next season

Just taking this in! If things go wrong the it will not be Ramayana’s fault. Looks like further investment is unlikely so the club may be on their own?

Who knows? Whole range of possibilities. If Ben and new manager do a good job on a more restricted budget, then maybe more investment might be on the cards (the traditional investment hypothesis). If we get relegated then incentive to invest further becomes more unlikely and the question arises as to whether Ramayana want to exit. By then their shareholding value will be impaired.

It's not. They control Ramayana and Ramayana control the club. They could change the board at at any time.

I suspect we will see and hear less from the brothers who haven't proved to be the management gurus they would have us think.

With the fact the club must have booked a pretty substantial loss last year, surely their shareholding is already worth next to nothing.
I am sure the investors came in knowing there was no chance of this being a profitable investment for anyone - I think the brothers were at least never under any illusions on this point - the objective and reward was to create a sustainable club and enjoy some glory.

I can only guess at the motivation for shareholders, many of whom are U.S. based and presumably have limited knowledge of non league football. The Wrexham story has sparked a lot of interest from U.S. investors, the prize being getting to EFL 2 where there is more revenue to be had from TV, larger attendances, bigger sponsorship opportunities etc. The actual cost of going from smallish NLS club to EFL is as we know huge. Being financially sustainable and building a strong community and media presence were core to the strategy. The 3G element of that strategy has gone away for the foreseeable so some financial retrenchment is not surprising.
I can’t think that there was no expectation of a return from some investors albeit must have been in the very high risk part of their portfolios. Without 3G and a fair amount of the initial investment “wasted” on an unsuccessful play off bid, the main question is now whether Ramayana shareholders are prepared to contemplate any new investment at all, and on what basis, or if they just hang around to see if they can recoup some of their investment through a sale or allowing new investors to come on board which will dilute them, but perhaps give some chance to recover something more.
The National League will require the club to submit an acceptable budget for the coming season. How much real scrutiny is given to the budget is moot. However, it will need to be realistic to a point to show that the club can meet the obligations of playing in the league.
