Assume there will be training to compensate for the Hayes fixture . Onto the Met Police game on Tuesday. One interesting game today will be at Chertsey who take on Slough. Obviously what sort of teams are fielded but there could be a contrast with how we get on next Saturday?

The Slough team had several trialists but the home team took an early lead and from reports deserved their win.
We have been warned!

The Chertsey win was no great surprise. They stormed through the Isthmian South Central last season, losing only once, and are probably contenders for the Southern Premier South this coming season. This will probably be our toughest PSF.

Met police away on Tuesday. I would expect that the number of trialists will be few as only those with a good chance of being recruited will feature.
We appear to have 18 players and I think Ben mentioned a squad of nearer 23. Time will tell, we do need a couple who are used to our current level.

We’ve got four PSFs left so would hope that we move a bit closer to a likely starting XI to give them time to gel, something we glaringly failed to do last pre season. Chertsey game onwards will tell us where we might be standard-wise. We have a couple of promising youngsters but they could easily get steamrollered at NLS level where physicality often wins the day. Having seen only 90 minutes so far it’s pretty hard to make judgments on new recruits.

This evening’s game might give us an indication as to which trialists have a chance of a squad place. There might still be a few vacancies as players from other clubs are released from their trials.
As has been pointed out tonight is the last game in preseason when the opposition is not as strong as we will have in the last three games.

Met Police is CASH only at the turnstiles and inside the ground.

The bar, which isn't operated by the football club, took cards when I was last over there.

Looked like Alan Julian went with his possible starting XI albeit without Gray, Hunt, Wiltshire and Cheadle, in a 4-4-1-1 formation. We dominated both halves and created some good chances but only converted one, a header from Sorondo who was the outstanding player. Babajide always looked likely to create something and good performances from most players against limited opposition. We did try to hit Wall quite a bit but also got runners in behind to mix things up. Trialist at #5 who looked very similar build to Wiltshire looked composed albeit not much defending required all night. Their goal came after conceding an unnecessary corner and may have been offside. We changed wholesale after 60 mins with only Babajide and keeper staying on. Still dominated possession but fewer chances. Quite a few trialists involved who were much of a muchness although the #33 deep lying midfielder could be worth another look. However, we seem well covered in midfield if we can get everyone fit. I’d be spending money on CB options right now. Revan might be better used at RB though Taylor looked good both times I’ve seen him.
We need to see how we perform under greater stress. We are not going to have 80% possession when the league starts.
