Beavers’ manager, Alan Devonshire, rested a number of players, and keeper, Roffey, in for Adrian Blake, was the hero with some superb saves. An eventful night with both sides having a player sent off. Dulwich led after ten minutes, Kemel Bulent scoring. Kwayke equalised in the 27th minute thanks to good approach play by Levene and Haule. The first player to be sent off was Hampton’s Jeffrey, in the 54th minute, who got into a long ‘discussion’ with referee Colin Lymer – which resulted in two yellow cards for dissent. Almost immediately Morley gave Hampton the lead, only for Ronnie Green to reply five minutes later. 2-2 after 90 minutes and the game went into extra time. In the 97th minute Dulwich took the lead through Charlie Side, however Inns got onto the end of an Omonua cross to level at 3-3. Following a clash of heads between Stowe and Dulwich’s Francis Quarm, both players went off for treatment. Unaccountably Quarm came back on without permission and was promptly sent off! In the resulting penalty shoot-out, Hampton went first. Levene shot over; Dulwich converted, 0-1; Jarvis scored, Dulwich missed, 1-1; Stow, Morley and Jones all netted, as did the next two Dulwich players, and with the score at 4-3 in Hampton’s favour, Junior Kamara struck his penalty against the post. Game over at 10.40pm, 3 hours after the game kicked off.
